Norway

Norway began accepting boat people in the late 1970s and took a large number relative to its size, including people rescued at sea by Norwegian merchant ships. Families were settled across the country under dispersal policy and later concentrated in and around Oslo. The community is older than most in Europe and its third generation is now growing up.
