Not the visa threads, those exist already. I mean daily life. Banking without a local credit history. Being read as a foreigner in your own language. Family expecting you at every meal. If you grew up abroad and moved back, what do you wish someone had told you?

Moved from Cabramatta to Sài Gòn for two years. The thing nobody warned me about: my Vietnamese was frozen in 1985 because that is when my parents left. I was using words that made people laugh in a nice way.

Paris to Hà Nội for a year. Banking was the wall. Bring more cash than feels sensible for the first month and open the account in person with a local friend.
